DIY Manicure: Candy Corn

While waiting at the hair salon today, I painted my nails these funky fall colors.

Do you love it or hate it?

Army Chic

Cargo Jacket: Urban Outfitters, Floral Dress: Vintage (Brooklyn Flea), Flatforms: Urban Outfitters, Yellow Belt: Roommates Closet, Water Cooler: All Me, Baby.

Outfit Estimate: $80.00

You're most likely wondering why I posted my outfit next to a water cool. Well, I petitioned for that beauty, all by myself. Having a sufficient amount of water available in the work place is extremely important. Now onto my outfit, today's look was trendy and comfortable. My vintage Brooklyn flea mart find is soft and cozy. I pulled the tags off that cargo jacket this morning and will continue to pair it with outfits throughout the fall season.

It's getting chilly in the sunny state. Can't wait for you to see my Work Look tomorrow.

Turkey Pumpkin Chili

 Recipe Photo
My Homemade Version

The sunny state has been rainy the last couple of days. So, I decided to research an easy, fall festive soup recipe. Whole Foods is a great site for easy and healthy recipes. If you could smell through your computer screen, your nose would be in heaven right now.

Check out the recipe below:

Ingredients

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, cored, seeded and chopped
2 jalapeños, seeded and finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 pound ground white or dark meat turkey
1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, with their liquid
1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin purée
1 cup water
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
Salt and pepper to taste
1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained

Method

Heat oil in a large pot over medium high heat. Add onion, bell pepper, jalapeños and garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until tender, about 5 minutes. Add turkey and cook until browned. Add tomatoes, pumpkin, water, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low and add beans. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes more. Ladle chili into bowls and serve.

Fall is Approaching in the Sunny State

Shirt: Forever21, Floral Maxi: Forever21, Flatforms: Urban Outfitters, Earrings: Forever21, Lunchbox: Vera Bradley, Beautiful Pumpkin Display: Publix Supermarket
Outfit Estimate: $45.00

I attempted to fish tail braid my hair this morning and it did look alright until I got into the car. Fish tailing is much harder than they make it look on the internet. Well, the fish tail put me in the boho mood so I put together this cute but cashu look for work. Pairing a maxing with a shirt is a great way to get two looks from one piece.  Oh, and don't you just love the fall pumpkin backdrop?

Desert Chic

Sweater Shirt: The Limited, Skirt (Mega-Sale): Urban Outfitters, Wedges (Mega-Sale): Urban Outfitters, Leaf Earrings: Forever21

                                                           Outfit Estimate: $38.00

The mega-sale I speak off above was an absolute dream, this weekend. The sunny state was constant rain fall this weekend which leaves me to do what else but, shop. Urban Outfitters is one my most favorite stores because of there quality clothing, different brands and trendy selections. But the regular priced merchandise can put a bullet in your wallet, fast. Catching your local UO mega-sale (Additional 50% off sale merchandise) on any weekend other than Black Friday is better than McDonald's Autumn milkshake. After adding up all the original prices from the several pieces of clothing, Christmas gifts and seven pairs of new shoes, my grand total would have been more than $2,000. Can you guess how much I spent?

You guessed right, $300.00. I now have all the fall shoes I could ever need, maxi skirts for every summer day, blouses for work and play and Christmas gifts done for four different girlfriends.
Feeling Accomplished.
Life is good.

1. Thank You

Navy Blouse: Forever21, Leopard Skinny Belt: Old Navy, Skirt: Goodwill, Mary Janes: Payless
Outfit Estimate: $55.00

My simple "get over the hump" on hump day philosophy is wear a feel good outfit every Wednesday. How could I not feel good in a nude, mid-length, accordion skirt? This very particular, sassy, feel good hump day outfit inspired me to make Work Look a reality

You may ask yourself, what is Work Look and why should I add this blog to my list? Well, allow me to introduce myself. Megan C., young and in love. Blog, fashion, thrift store and social media obsessed. I recently accomplished two of the greatest strides in life: graduating college and shedding twenty-five pounds. Being plus size is and always be a part of my life.  Trying to stay trendy on a budget for my stuffy business casual, nine to five career can be an everyday challenge. Here I will show you what I wore, where I purchased it and roughly how much it cost. I will also post DIY projects, inspirational photos, recipes and tips for being a young, trendy, professional woman on a budget. I would love to live in your long list of favorite blogs or on your silver bar above this screen.
I can only hope you will bookmark Work Look and I will forever be thankful for your constant support.
